“The Bicycle - The Great Dress Reformer”, 1895
Bicycle riding led to the bicycle costume, especially knee-length pants. Dress reformers were big fans of the bicycle costume because it allowed for less ornamentation and more freedom of movement, but wearing it when you weren’t on a bike was kind of like wearing a swimsuit away from the beach.
