Doctor, suffragist, and Mountaineers founding member Cora Smith Eaton wrote a chapter of the Washington Women’s Suffrage Cookbook focused on camp cooking and supply lists for women hikers. Eaton suggested women wear “bloomers or knickerbockers” for climbing, along with a “short skirt, knee length, discarded on the hard climbs.”
