The existence of local resorts like Diamond Mineral Springs was the result of several converging Progressive movements: Health advocates supported getting out of cities and into nature; Temperance advocates liked people drinking fancy mineral water instead of alcohol, and industrialists expanded train and automobile access to the middle class.
